Balancing Morning Drink

I wanted to share a few of my favorite things this holiday season. This balancing morning drink is one of my new favorites. You can drink it on its own or add it to your morning coffee if you want the extra caffeine kick.

As part of my morning routine, I love a warm, strong beverage even here in the heat of the tropics. Tea never really cuts it for me. And I try not to drink too much coffee. So, I found this great drink that stands alone or can be added to a bit of coffee. I also like a bit of ritual in the morning, so I don’t mind a little effort. It sets the tone for self-care first thing in the morning. I let myself know I am willing to take time to care for myself throughout the day. If you need the auto-brew preset on your Mr. Coffee, then this recipe may not be for you ;)

First, get out a small saucepan. Add to it your milk of choice, pitted dates, cacao, cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla. Heat it over medium heat, making sure your milk doesn’t boil. Once it’s warm, put everything together in the blender. When the dates are completely broken down, you’re all set. It makes the most delicious. lightly sweet, balanced, warm drink to start your day!

Pour it into your favorite ceramic mug and sip slowly.

Enjoy!
